YouTube film hit speeder is charged

A MAN has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving after footage of a car racing through the streets of Edinburgh was posted on YouTube.

Steven Leslie Hinks, 35, was arrested by police investigating the YouTube video, which attracted thousands of hits.

He was reported for summons and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

The footage featured a car speeding the two miles from Blackhall to Edinburgh Castle in just minutes around dawn, careering on to the wrong side of the road several times.

It runs red lights outside Stewart's Melville College, drives the wrong way around the traffic island in Ainslie Place in the New Town and performs a dangerous handbrake turn in Johnston Terrace.

Police launched an investigation after road policing officers examined the footage posted last month.
