Youth forum meets to help set priorities for future of Capital

Young people from across Edinburgh have held a meeting to discuss what future priorities for the city should be.

Edinburgh residents between the ages of 11 and 21 attended the City Chambers to give their views at the Budget Youth Summit, which is organised by the Edinburgh Youth Issues Forum – a partnership of young people and representatives of the council and its partners.

The forum, which meets every six weeks gives young people the opportunity to be consulted alongside key partners, such as councillors, the police and fire services, youth workers, the NHS and Edinburgh Leisure.

Councillor Marilyne MacLaren, the city’s education leader, praised the event and said: “Young people are an integral part of our society and our city’s future. Therefore, it is only right they have the chance to have their voices heard.

“This unique forum offers us the chance to engage in some of our most challenging issues with future voices of tomorrow.

“And I am sure that the event will provide us with valuable contributions to help us set priorities in the coming years.”
