Young people don’t expect first home until age of 37

YOUNG people expect to be 37 before they are able to buy their own home, a survey has found.

And two out of five people not yet on the housing ladder say they never intend to become property owners.

The survey also found six per cent of people looking to buy a house would rather play the lottery to get enough for a deposit than ask friends or family for help.

Moneysupermarket.com, which conducted the survey, said it was surprising some people appeared to be giving up on the idea of owning their own home.
