Worthy causes vie for Lottery award

TWO city projects are canvassing for votes as they bid for honours at The National Lottery Awards 2011.

Dean & Cauvin Trust, which provides aftercare for young people brought up in care homes, is vying for the title of best voluntary/charity project, while Transition Project is competing in the best education project category for its efforts getting recovering drug addicts back into work.

Both have reached the semi-finals of the contest, which will be hosted by TV star Jenni Falconer, pictured. Locals are urged to vote from May 31. A 2000 cash prize is at stake.
