Wesley Snipes released from federal prison

ACTOR Wesley Snipes has been released from a federal prison in Pennsylvania after serving a sentence on tax charges.

Snipes, who entered prison in December 2010, was convicted in 2008 for failure to file income tax returns.

The 50-year-old actor failed to file returns for at least a decade according to US prosecutors, and he owed millions of dollars in back taxes.

After being released on Tuesday, Snipes has been placed under home confinement.

A Bureau of Corrections spokeswoman has said that the actor will be overseen by the New York Community Corrections Office until July 19.
