Video: tanks invade holiday beach

A pristine white beach complete with a scattering of carousels and sun-worshippers.

It is not the sort of scene you would expect to see a convoy of military hardware speeding past.

The video above shot near Kaliningrad, Russia shows a procession of tanks hurtling through the sands with apparently

oblivious beach-goers in the background.

The clip has attracted over 350,000 views on YouTube with posters on the site noting that this scene is not that uncommon in Russia.

The reason, it is claimed, is that Russian authoritities instruct the military, where possible, to transport their tanks and other heavy-dury vehicles on the sand so not to damage the country’s road network.

Whatever the reason it is a surreal scene none-the-less.
