As the Jamaican athlete strolled inside the Bird’s Nest stadium to acknowledge the crowd, a cameraman riding the two-wheeled scooter alongside him clipped a railing and veered directly into Bolt.

Caught completely unawares, Bolt was swept onto his back by the Segway, but managed to roll back onto his feet before checking on his unwitting assailant’s welfare.

“It took me out pretty well,” Bolt said. “But I’m okay. No issues so I’m happy about it.”

Bolt beat his American rival, Justin Gatlin, to the 200m title in China with a time of 19.55 seconds despite concerns over his fitness.
