US Capitol Lockdown RECAP: Person shot as Pro-Trump mob storms Capitol as Senate meets to confirm Joe Biden

Pro-Trump rioters stormed the seat of American government as a joint session of Congress was held.

The rioters, who are protesting the results of the 2020 election, turned up in their hundreds to Capitol Building.

They stormed the building and made it inside, leading to an armed stand off between police and rioters just outside the house door.

CNN reported that staffers inside were told to stay away from external windows and doors and to find a safe place.

They have also reported several ‘suspicious packages’ that have been found in the building and are being investigated by police.

The Mayor of Washington announced a 6pm curfew in the city in an effort to stop the protests.
