Three candidates appeal election ban

Three of Egypt’s main contenders for the presidency have filed appeals against a decision by the country’s elections commission barring them from running.

Islamists Hazem Abu Ismail and Khairat al-Shater, and former intelligence chief Omar Suleiman were knocked out of the race along with seven others on Saturday on legal grounds.
