Seven shot dead in wake of cup victory

Gunmen killed seven people and wounded ten during street celebrations after Palmeiras FC won the Brazilian Cup.

The shootings took place late on Wednesday and early yesterday in the city of Osasco.

Police said that although the victims were in the midst of the celebration, none were Palmeiras fans and that the gunmen “took advantage of the noise of fireworks to mask the noise of the gunshots”.
