Robbie Nimmo, 17, and his friend ‘Calum’ were sunning on Black Lizard island when a discarded cigarette is said to have started the blaze.

The duo then allegedly fled on a pedalo as emergency services rushed to the scene.

The Falkirk teenager tweeted his defence, stating: “Canny believe how bad c**** are making this out to be we were just cutting about on the hing and Calum pung his fag on the ground.”

The holidaymakers were apparently quizzed by Spanish police before being allowed to go free and they returned to Scotland yesterday.

Isla de sa Porrasa is an uninhabited island off Magaluf’s coast, though it is often frequented by tourists who either swim or make their way out on a pedalo.
