Scientist’s body found

The body of the second of two British men who died during a trip on a crocodile-infested river in India has been found.

Michael Easton, a 62-year-old senior research scientist for Shell from Holland Park, west London, was found dead yesterday by rescuers after disappearing on the Cauvery River, near Bangalore.

Eaton’s friend Ian Turton, 45, a project manager from York, was pulled from the river on Thursday, after a three-day search. Both men had been working in Bangalore for several years.

The two friends are thought to have set out last Saturday. Their damaged canoe or raft was found on Wednesday, near a known danger spot 56 miles from Bangalore.
