Politician among dead in Iraq attacks

A STRING of attacks has left at least six people dead, including a candidate in upcoming elections, Iraq authorities said yesterday.

Police say gunmen attacked two military posts in the northern city of Mosul, killing five soldiers and wounding three others.

In the capital, Baghdad, gunmen killed Salah Khabat, who was a candidate in provincial council elections, in a drive-by-shooting.
