The unlikely duo will team up to produce a Live Earth concert on 18 June in a bid to fight global warming. Williams said he will have all of humanity singing together at the concert on seven continents to build support for a UN climate pact in Paris among more than 190 nations in December.

Williams, who is best known for his 2013 hit song Happy said “we literally are going to have humanity harmonise all at once” in support of a binding international accord to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

He said the purpose is “to have a billion voices with one message – to demand climate action now” from governments rather than to continue the world’s reliance on fossil fuels.

More than 40 heads of state will attend the four-day Davos event which aims to be a crossroads for “public-private co-operation”.
