Niagara Falls freezes over as mercury hits -37C

AS the US endures extreme cold due to the polar vortex that has seen temperatures dip as low as -37°C in the US Midwest, Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada was yesterday frozen by Arctic-like conditions.

Around 240 million people in North America have been affected by the extreme weather, which forecasters say will subside in the next few days.
