A section of a busy parkway has been shut down near where the officer was shot.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference, “We are all in mourning tonight. This entire city is in mourning.
“We are humbled by Officer Randolph Holder’s example.
“An example of courage, and service and sacrifice. Our hearts are heavy and we offer our thoughts and prayers to his family.”
Randolph Holder is the fourth New York City police officer to be ‘murdered’ in the past 11 months.
