Nepal protesters block offices in bid to oust PM

Hundreds of supporters of opposition parties gathered outside government offices in Nepal’s capital yesterday to demand prime minister Baburam Bhattarai step down.

The protesters blocked the area around the complex in the heart of Kathmandu that houses the premier’s office and the main government buildings, chanting slogans against Mr Bhattarai. Staff were not able
to get to work because of the protest.

Riot police kept close watch on the protesters, but there were no reports of violence.
