Mrs President’s Tweet lesson

FRENCH president’s wife Valerie Trierweiler has said she regrets posting a Tweet taking a dig at her husband’s former spouse, Ségolène Royal which sparked a scandal dubbed Tweetgate.

In an interview published yesterday François Hollande’s partner said her Tweet four months ago attacking the mother of his four children was a “mistake” from which she had learned.

Ms Trierweiler, a journalist who once hosted her own cable TV show, admitted she had been clumsy, and hadn’t realised that after Mr Hollande took office in May she was “no more just a simple citizen.” “It won’t happen again,” she was quoted as saying.
