Model too hip for Dutch job

A FORMER winner of Holland’s Next Top Model television show has won a payout after being dropped by an agency for having 36in hips.

Ananda Marchildon, 25, sued Elite models after she won the main prize in the 2008 series of the show, a three-year contract worth €75,000 (£63,000). But she was sacked after only €10,000 worth of work for failing to slim further to please the agency.

Yesterday Amsterdam District Court ruled that, though she had put on weight since winning the contract, she had a hip measurement of 36.2in at that point, and Elite could not demand that she slim down to 35.4in.

The model and agency parted ways in September and Marchildon is now a carpenter.
