Militiamen driven from Somali village

Residents say Somali and African Union (AU) troops captured a key area on the outskirts of Mogadishu from insurgents yesterday.

AU soldiers were reported to have driven the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab militia out of the village of Maslah. The battle lasted several hours, according to witnesses.
