BRITISH forces in Iraq seized a "significant" haul of arms, ammunition and bomb-making equipment in Basra, military officials revealed yesterday.

Several properties belonging to suspected insurgents were raided and mortar rounds, fuses and rocket-propelled grenades were seized. Three Iraqi men are being questioned following the raids, carried out under cover of darkness by troops from the Queen's Royal Hussars, 1st Battalion the Light Infantry, 1st Battalion the Devon and Dorset Light Infantry and 2nd Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment. Iraqi police were also involved in the raids.

Meanwhile, the bodies of Privates Adam Morris, 19, and Joseva Lewaicei, 25, British troops who died in a roadside bomb attack near Basra two weeks ago, arrived back at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire yesterday.
