Latvian vicar held on child abuse claims

LATVIAN police have arrested three men, including a Lutheran vicar, on allegations they sexually abused children.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia identified the vicar as Agris Levalds, an assistant pastor in the city of Daugavpils. A spokeswoman said Levalds had been a Catholic priest before converting in February 2009.
