Hostages taken in Brazil prison riot

inmates armed with pistols and knives have rioted at a prison in north-east Brazil and were last night still holding about 100 visitors and two guards hostage.

Negotiations were under way yesterday, nearly a day after the start of the revolt at the prison in the coastal city of Aracaju.
