Heatwave shuts down Acropolis

Monuments on the Acropolis Hill in Athens closed early yesterday due to a heatwave that saw temperatures hit 42C.

Greek cities are providing air-conditioned halls for the public, while the government advised elderly Greeks to remain indoors until the evening.
