Election violence in Congo kills 18

ATLEAST 18 people have been killed and 100 seriously injured in election violence in Congo, with most deaths caused by troops loyal to president Joseph Kabila, according to Human Rights Watch.

The violence peaked last Saturday with at least 14 deaths as soldiers fired on tens of thousands of people at an airport to greet opposition candidate Etienne Tshisekedi.
