Death of media mogul Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, aged 86

Former New York Times publisher Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, who led the newspaper through some of the most significant moments in 20th-century journalism, died yesterday. He was 86.

The father of current Times publisher Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jnr, died at home in New York, after a long illness. During his tenure, the newspaper won 31 Pulitzer prizes, published the Pentagon Papers and won a libel case against Sullivan that established important First Amendment protections for the press.
