Court backs rainforest dam

Brazil’s Supreme Court has ordered the resumption of work on a massive dam in the heart of its Amazon rainforest.

Environmentalists and indigenous rights activists have criticised the £7 billion Belo Monte Dam, saying it will devastate wildlife and the livelihoods of 40,000 people in the area.
