Counter-attack kills 70 Taleban

UP TO 70 Taleban insurgents have been killed in attacks on bases used by Nato and Afghan forces in the province of Paktika, in eastern Afghanistan, an official claimed yesterday.

Militants with rocket-propelled grenades and small arms were involved in the assaults but were driven off in a Nato counter-attack, involving coalition aircraft, a Nato spokesman added.
