China offers help on territorial disputes

China’s foreign minister says the country is willing to ease differences over the handling of territorial disputes in the South China Sea.

Yang Jiechi told a news conference in Indonesia that his country was happy to work with South-east Asian countries to implement a declaration on conduct in the area.

He spoke after meeting Friday with his Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa, who visited several regional capitals last month to try to reach a consensus on handling the sea disputes.
