Camel wired in race-fix shocker

THREE men who rigged a stun gun on a racing camel to jolt it into running faster have been jailed for three months for animal cruelty.

A court in the United Arab Emirates’ capital Dubai heard the men were caught after racing officials inspected the “electronic jockeys” being used in the race.

These devices coax the camels to run and have replaced boys, who were traditionally trained in the sport, amid claims that the practice amounted to child abuse.

Despite the gang’s attempt to fix the race, the camel selected only managed second place, the court was told.
