Beheading fear for Saudi ‘witch’

A SRI Lankan woman accused of casting a spell on a 13-year-old Saudi Arabian girl could face death by beheading.

A Saudi man complained his daughter had started acting strangely during a shopping trip in Jeddah after they came close to the Sri Lankan, the Okaz newpaper reported. He then notified police who arrested her.

Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy where court rulings are based on judges’ interpretation of Islamic Sharia law.

“The punishment is always beheading for anyone found guilty of witchcraft,” lawyer Waleed Abu al-Khair said.
