Bahrain arrests six ahead of Grand Prix

SIX people have been arrested in Bahrain accused of stealing and burning cars ahead of the Gulf island kingdom’s Formula One race on Sunday.

State news said one man arrested had confessed to taking part in the burning of a car in the financial district on Sunday.

Four other people accused of stealing and burning a car were also arrested and another person detained over an accusation he blocked a main road and damaged a Bahraini’s car.

The Gulf Arab state has been hit by civil unrest since pro-democracy protests broke out in early 2011.
