A TURKISH film depicting United States troops killing and capturing innocent civilians in Iraq should be withdrawn from German cinemas, a Bavarian state governor has said.
Edmund Stoiber was quoted in the Bild am Sonntag as saying that Valley of the Wolves Iraq was racist and that it could stir animosity between Islam and the West.
"This irresponsible film doesn't foster integration, but rather hatred and mistrust toward the West," said Mr Stoiber.
He called on cinema operators to cancel screenings of the film in Germany, which has a sizeable Turkish community.
He also pressed the Turkish government to take a stance.
The fiction film, in which Turkish agents struggle against renegade US forces in Iraq, has been a huge hit in Turkey, while drawing criticism that it gives a twisted view of the Iraq war.
