Aids and HIV cases on the rise in China

The number of new HIV and Aids cases in China is soaring, state media said yesterday, with rates of infections among students and older men rising.

Health officials issued figures showing 48,000 new cases this year. Nearly 82 per cent of those new cases were transmitted through sexual intercourse.
