Afghan drug cash more than doubles

Revenue from opium production in Afghanistan soared by 133 per cent last year, about one-tenth of its GDP, the UN said yesterday.

UN director Yury Fedotov said opium “provides considerable funding to the insurgency and fuels corruption”.
