Jordan’s military prosecutor has charged 89 activists with inciting violent revolt, after protests over price rises swept through the kingdom last week.

A total of 158 men in their 20s and 30s were arrested during riots that began last Tuesday and left one person dead and 75 others injured, including 58 policemen. Protests across the country – featuring rare calls for the overthrow of the king – turned violent last week.
