9/11 rescuers hit by lasting lung damage

RESCUE workers suffered lasting lung damage after exposure to dust in the aftermath of the 11 September attacks.

Research into the health of nearly 13,000 New York rescue workers found the "significant proportion" who suffered serious lung damage have not recovered normal lung function.
