Women hurt in flat blaze

TWO women were treated for smoke inhalation following a flat fire in Longstone last night.

The fire broke out on Longstone Street at around 6.20pm yesterday. An ambulance was called to treat the two female casualties – one of them elderly.

The cause of the fire has not been established and an investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, a bundle of clothes that caught fire when left too close to a gas heater left two women in need of medical attention in Pilton.

Fire crews were called to a house in West Pilton Gardens shortly after 8pm last night to extinguish the bundle.

In Kirknewton, fire crews put out discarded gas cylinders at a disused house on Camps Industrial Estate at 2.45pm yesterday.
