Women get training help

Two charities have joined forces to provide education and training to ethnic minority women living in the north Edinburgh area.

The Multi-Cultural Family Base and Saheliya will support 30 women with their studies into 2011.

Port of Leith Housing Association has supported the organisations by accessing funds from the Scottish Government's Wider Role fund. A number of its tenants use the service.

Cathy Macnaughton, of the Multicultural Family Base, said: "Education gives them the chance to engage better in the community."
