Woman woke to ‘man lying on top of her’

THE victim of an alleged rape has described how she awoke after a party to find a man on top of her.

The 29-year-old told a jury at the High Court in Livingston how she wakened to find a shadowy figure in bed with her.

She told the court: “The first thing I noticed was that there was a man lying on top of me, not fully with his weight on me, but directly above me.

“I asked him who he was. He got up and put his trousers on and walked out of the room.

“I noticed then that my vest had been rolled up and my underwear pulled down.”

Her friend asked her what had happened, saying it had sounded as if someone was having sex in her bedroom.

The woman, an office worker from Edinburgh, told the jury: “‘I think somebody’s just had sex with me’ was what I said to her.” Her friend called the police later that morning.

Kazeem Kadiri, 38, denies raping the woman in a house in Livingston, West Lothian, on November 7, 2010.

The charge alleges that he carried out the sex attack while the woman was asleep.

The trial, before Judge Lady Stacey, continues.
