Woman takes on cancer role

A WOMAN who is being treated for ovarian cancer has become an ambassador for a UK-wide charity to raise awareness of the disease.

Catherine Maxwell, from Broxburn in West Lothian, will perform the role for Target Ovarian Cancer.

She said: “When I was diagnosed I’d never even heard of ovarian cancer and currently only one per cent of Scottish women are very confident of naming one of its symptoms.

“I’m looking forward to supporting the charity in reducing the number of women dying.”
