Woman sexually assaulted in street

A WOMAN managed to escape her attacker after being sexually assaulted as she walked home from a night out in Edinburgh.

She was walking along the capital’s McDonald Road, at about 3:25am on Christmas Eve, when a man tried to strike up a conversation before grabbing her and then assaulting her.

The woman was able to escape and her attacker ran off in the direction of Leith Walk.

He is described as about 28 years old, 5ft 6ins, with a slim build and dark-skinned with short, wavy, dark hair.

He had very thick black eyebrows, dark eyes and a black moustache, and he was wearing a black coat with a hood and black trousers.

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for anyone in the area at the time who might have witnessed the incident to contact them.
