Woman sexually assaulted in Edinburgh street

A woman has been sexually assaulted as she walked home from a night out in Edinburgh.

She was walking along McDonald Road at around 3.25am yesterday when a man tried to strike up a conversation before grabbing her and then assaulting her.

The woman was able to escape from her attacker and he ran off in the direction of Leith Walk.

He is described as around 28 years old, 5ft 6ins, with a slim build and dark-skinned with short wavy dark hair.

He had very thick black eyebrows, dark eyes, and a black moustache, and was wearing a black coat with a hood and black trousers.

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for anyone in the area at the time who might have witnessed the incident to contact them.
