Woman at lights victim of road rage

A WOMAN was the victim of a terrifying road rage attack at the hands of another motorist after stopping at traffic lights.

The 28-year-old, who was alone in her car, had been waiting at the lights on Newcraighall Road at the junction under the A1.

A man, who was in the car behind her, got out of his black Honda Accord and approached her door.

The man attempted to open the door, then subjected her to a volley of verbal abuse before kicking her car and returning to his vehicle. The suspect drove off northwards onto the A1 following the incident, which took place at around 1.40pm on Wednesday.

The man is described as white, in his mid-40s, of medium build and around 5ft 7in tall. He had short black slightly receding hair, and was wearing a dark plain polo shirt and jeans with dark, thick round glasses.

Constable Neill Watt said: “This appears to have been an entirely unprovoked incident and while the young woman involved was not injured, she has been left understandably shaken.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened to contact us on 0131-311 3131.”
