Woman knocked down by people carrier

A WOMAN has suffered “significant chest injuries” after being crushed by a grey people carrier in west Edinburgh.

The 30-year-old was knocked down on Queensferry Road between Clermiston and Drumbrae at around 11.35pm yesterday.

She remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital today and police are appealing for witnesses.

The incident is not a hit and run, police said.

An ambulance spokeswoman said the woman had suffered a broken leg in the collision.

The road was closed for around three hours, with local diversions in place. A police spokesman said: “Police are appealing for anyone in the area at the time who saw what happened to contact police immediately.

“Anyone with information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131-311 3131.”
