A joint investigation by police and the fire service has been launched. In a statement, police ruled out the incident as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “There’s nothing apparently suspicious at this time. There is a joint investigation with ourselves and the fire service.

“There were three people in the house - a male, a female and a ten-year-old child - and one occupant, the female, has been taken to hospital.

“It doesn’t appear to have been a gas leak - it appears to have been some kind of appliance involved.”
