Woman injured in fire dies in hospital

A 26 -year-old woman, badly burned in a fire last Wednesday, has died in hospital.

She suffered serious burns in the incident in the city’s Dryden Street and had been in a critical condition in St John’s Hospital in Livingston ever since. Police confirmed she died last night as a result of her injuries.

The incident happened around 10.40pm when fire brigade and police officers were called to the blaze in a third floor flat.

Two women were badly injured but a baby girl who was also in the house escaped unharmed.

A 59-year-old woman is still in a serious but stable condition in St John’s Hospital.

The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
