Woman dies after falling from 19th floor

A leading housing campaigner last night called for extra safety measures for all high-rise flats after a young woman fell to her death from the 19th-floor of a tower block.

Ashley Hardie, 24, died at the scene at Prospecthill Circus, Toryglen, Glasgow on Tuesday.

Betty Stevenson, convener of the Edinburgh Tenants Federation, called for measures such as high-quality window safety catches and protective netting across balconies to prevent further tragedies.
