Woman dies after Ayrshire car crash

A young woman has died in hospital after a two-car crash.

The collision happened at around 9am on Thursday, on the B780 Kilbirnie to Dalry road in North Ayrshire.

The 19-year-old, who had been driving a Vauxhall Corsa, was airlifted to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley with serious injuries.

The woman is believed to have lost control of the vehicle as she approached a bend, and collided with an oncoming Peugeot 308.

The other driver, a 61-year-old woman, was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, where she was being treated for chest and back injuries.
