Woman beaten up for going to bed

A WOMAN battered her same-sex lover for spoiling a party by going to bed early.

Caroline McCann tried to rouse her partner by taking a CD player up to the bedroom and turning the volume up full.

But when Moira Senior still didn’t wake up, McCann jumped into her bed and started slapping and punching her on the head. She then kicked Ms Senior on the body in the home they shared in Livingston, West Lothian.

McCann, 54, appeared for sentence yesterday at Livingston Sheriff Court after earlier pleading guilty to assault to injury, and was fined £320.

Kate Hart, prosecuting, said the two women had been drinking in the house with friends on the night of the offence in November last year.

Ms Senior complained of feeling unwell and went to bed, and the accused got annoyed when she didn’t come back downstairs.

Ms Hart said: “She took a CD player up to the bedroom and turned the volume up. The complainer awoke to find the accused in bed with her punching and slapping her on the face and kicking her on the body.”

Hazel McGuinness, defending, said the relationship between the two women was now over.
